A VERY windy brisk October day in John O'Groats - the tip of Scotland. This is the Duncansby Head Lighthouse situated in Caithness, Highland in north-eastern Scotland. In 1914, during WW I, a temporary fog signal was set up at Duncansby Head. It was replaced by a permanent fog signal after the war. The Lighthouse was built in 1924. During WW II, and on the eve of the invasion of Noway, the Lighthouse was machine-gunned by a German bomber, but to was not destroyed. It has been automated since 1997.
